Recent swimmers have had to contend with severe chop, fog, and unseasonably warm and cold temperatures as they made the crossing through New York Harbor. Yet with today's knowledge of the tides, most participants cover the course faster Ederle's record, which lasted from 1925 until 2006. In 2011, the swim may have another twist with likely warm waters, fast currents, and New Jersey start with a Manhattan finish.
Naked Polar Bear Cruise To Benefit Wildlife Conservatory
The frigid February weather won't keep these Polar Bears from stripping down on the Hudson River Saturday.
For the third year running, the cold-water defying Coney Island Polar Bear Club will step aboard the Circle Line Sightseeing Cruise sans clothes to benefit the Wildlife Conservatory -- and New Yorkers from around the city are invited to join them.
New Yorkers who volunteer to strip down to their skivvies are allowed to forgo the $20 cost of attending, but many may eat the cost just to enjoy some Polar Bear Club sightseeing, cruise line spokesman Jason Hackett said.

About The NYC 4SKINS:
The
4SKINS were a New York City based rock'n'roll band that came together
September 1979. Their music is a synthesis of Funk, Punk, and
Soul.
The
original songs were written by Doug Ceballos and Pat McCabe aka
Eggs McDonnell, and arranged by the 4SKINS. A 45 rpm single titled
"I'M MAD"/"WHEN I'M GONE", was released on
GROVE Records, followed by a 5 song E.P. titled "White Neighborhood"
released on BEATNOTE records. The 4SKINS were accompanied by Sax
Fifth Avenue (aka Greg Meyer, the 5th Skin) on tenor and soprano
saxes; and a variety of backup singers namely the Chiclettes and
the Two Tones, featuring Ms. Shirley and Jonny Casino.

This gig was our farewell to this New York City establishment
and former home of the recording studio Media Sound
which spanned twenty years of American music history.
It was regarded by many artists as their favorite place to record.
The great acoustics stem from the historic space which was originally
the site of the Manhattan Baptist Church. Our record producer,
Mike Sosna www.sosproductions.com recorded sessions at Media two
decades ago. A partial list of artists who recorded at Media is
as follows:
John
Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, The Rolling
Stones, George Harrison, Guns and Roses
Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Aerosmith, Luther Vandross, James
Taylor, Billy Joel, The Isley Brothers,
The Ramones, Kool & The Gang, Barry Manilow, Sister Sledge,
Donald Fagen, The Grateful Dead, and Lou Reed.
Le
Bar Bat continued the tradition of great music created from the
vibe of this legendary space.
Le
Bar Bat became our home base for performing live over the past
2 years.
We will miss this rich music room.
